PHILOSOPHY

Acupuncture & East Asian Medicine (EAM)

A Complete Healthcare System:

East Asian Medicine represents a holistic healthcare system rooted in thousands of years of tradition and practice. This system views the body, mind, and spirit as interconnected and seeks to balance the body's energies, known as Qi. Acupuncture is just one branch within this modality and involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body.

East Asian Medicine also encompasses herbal remedies, dietary practices, energy cultivation practices (tai chi and qigong), cupping, moxibustion, and more. Together, these practices aim to prevent and treat illness, optimize health, and address the root causes of ailments rather than just symptoms. This medicine is not a band-aid; it peels back the layers of symptoms like the layers of an onion to specifically address each layers’ manifestations to eventually reach the root cause of symptoms and restoring homeostasis. Emphasizing harmony and balance, this integrated approach offers personalized care for both physical and mental well-being.

Origins and Applications:

In its origins, East Asian Medicine was a complete healthcare system able to support a wide array of health concerns, and that remains true today. Well-recognized for pain management, it is also adept at supporting reproductive (ex: PMS, fertility), psycho-emotional (ex: stress, anxiety), digestive (ex: constipation, acid reflux), musculoskeletal (sciatica, tight muscles), and neurological (ex: headache, neuropathy) concerns to name a few.

Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine is not (typically) a “quick fix.” Yes, often results can be astonishing, but peeling back the layers of (a lifetime of) accumulations takes time. With patience, collaborative care, and a curiosity, your being will begin to heal through it’s innate wisdom with the tools of East Asian Medicine as the catalyst. There is an exciting capacity for your life to shift, unfold, and blossom in concert with the application of this thousands year old science.

What are Herbs?!

The integration of “herbs” into your care can accelerate your outcomes and this branch of the medicine has unique abilities that the other branches do not. “Herbs” come from nature and include plants, animals, stones, etc. that have specific properties and benefits. Rachel received additional education, training, clinical experience, and licensing to be able to prescribe herbs. Ingredients and formulations are regulated and use Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This non-pharmaceutical supplement approach to caring for your health are gentle, with minimal-no side effects, and are made from ingredients that only exist in nature and did not come from a lab. Unlike pharmaceuticals that only treat your symptoms, and often have significant side effects, herbal formulas are prescribed with specific formulation to your health needs and will likely change over time as more layers are peeled back to address the root cause of your symptoms. We are all more than our diagnoses and herbs are integrated to care for the whole being: body, mind, and spirit; because often our myriad of symptoms are all connected…
